Deeper Well:
Our Story
Rachel Roberts Quartarone founded Deeper Well in 2017 out of a desire to help others tell their unique stories. Her love of history began as a child listening to her grandparents share their stories of growing up in the Great Depression in rural Georgia. She loved poring through family photo albums and figuring out how she was related to just about everyone in her small community of Coal Mountain. That strong sense of connection to the past inspired her to study history and share it with others.
Rachel has an extensive background in the public history field including 20 years experience in writing, researching, developing exhibitions and organizing educational programs for institutions such as the Atlanta History Center, Atlanta Botanical Garden and Fernbank Museum of Natural History. She has also worked as a freelance writer for magazines, travel guides and online publications. Her passion for food and family stories inspired her to as well and share family recipes and stories on her blog, Time for Good Food. In every endeavor, making history accessible and relatable to a wide audience has been her focus. Deeper Well was born to accomplish just that:
“After years of doing museum work, I started to wonder what it would be like if individuals and small businesses or organizations like churches or community non-profits had access to museum quality services for their own stories, photos and keepsakes. While your story may not be mounted to a wall for thousands to see, it still matters. People want to share their stories and possess rich treasure troves of photos and heirlooms that need to be preserved and shared, but maybe they don’t know where to begin. This is where Deeper Well can help. I can help make their legacy accessible for generations to come.”
Rachel holds a B.A. in History from Berry College and a Master of Heritage Preservation from Georgia State University. Her diverse skill set will help you with variety of historical preservation, writing and documentary projects.
